Our Mission is Essential

Our plan to open school in August reflects the input of our faculty, our parents and healthcare experts. With a shared desire for the health and well being of our community, several protocols will be in place. While school may look different, our goal of providing our students with an academically rigorous, Catholic education in the Jesuit tradition remains unchanged.

St. Raphael Claims Brain Brawl Championship Title

In this day-long Academic Challenge style event, teams of 7th and 8th grade boys and girls battle for the Fr. Larry Ober, S.J. Cup of Knowledge. St. Raphael walked away with this year's Cup of Knowledge and championship title.

After a hard-fought battle, St. Raphael School claimed the Fr. Larry Ober, S.J. Cup of Knowledge in the 2018 Brain Brawl after defeating Holy Trinity School.

For nearly 10 years, the Brain Brawl competition for grade school teams has proven to be challenging and fun for students and parents alike. Each year, 24 teams compete in eight rounds of trivia for the coveted Cup of Knowledge. The winning team gets their name on the trophy and has it to display at their school for the entire year.

The brainchild of Admissions Director Pat O’Rourke ’90 and math teacher Jon Barker ’87, the competition quizzes students on everything from English to sports, pop culture to mathematics. The two write every question themselves, keeping each year fresh and challenging.

The tournament winners in each bracket for the 2019 Brain Brawl are:

  1. Saint Raphael  - Flight A

  2. Saint Barnabas B  - Flight B

  3. Saint Francis - Flight C

Congratulations to all our teams that participated. We can't wait to see who returns for the challenge next year!
