Saint Ignatius High School

Alumni Service Project

Alumni are invited to participate in an optional service project on Saturday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. followed by an All-Alumni Mass at 5 p.m. (optional).

Labre Homeless Ministry

Every Sunday, the Ignatius community brings meals to men and women living on the streets of Cleveland, allowing students to form meaningful relationships with those on the margins.

  • What we will do: Alumni volunteers will gather to help prep food and supplies in the Joseph Family Kitchen in Gibbons Hall for the following Sunday’s Labre. Alumni will also have the chance to learn more about the Labre program and the effect it has had on the community since 2002.

Arimathea Pallbearer Ministry

Founded in 2003, the Pallbearer Ministry serves the poor and indigent by carrying deceased men and women who have little or no family to their final place of rest.
  • What we will do: Contingent upon requests for Pallbearers, Alumni volunteers will serve as Pallbearers for the funeral. Volunteers will also attend any Mass/Prayer service associated with the Funeral as well as the Burial. Volunteers must dress appropriately (suit/tie formal wear) for a Funeral Service. Alumni will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Arimathea Pallbearer Ministry and the effect is has had on the community. Timing for the Pallbearers Ministry is based on the time of the funerals volunteers will serve.

West Side Catholic Center

Since 1977, the West Side Catholic Center has offered hot meals, hospitality, clothing and household goods, emergency services, advocacy, a women and children's shelter, and a housing solutions program to those in need at no charge, regardless of religious affiliation.
  • What we will do: Alumni volunteers will assist the West Side Catholic Center by doing kitchen, cleaning, and yard work at one of their locations in Ohio City. Alumni will also have the opportunity to learn more about the West Side Catholic Center and the effect they have had on the community.

Ohio City Neighborhood Cleanup Project

Each year, a one-day event called Spring Into Action is held as part of the national Jesuit Day of Service. Students lead projects at various sites as families, friends and alumni help give back to the community through spring clean-up work.
  • What we will do: Alumni volunteers will continue the work that is accomplished during Spring Into Action. Volunteers can expect to participate in clean-up type work at various locations in Ohio City dependent on need. Alumni will also have the opportunity to learn more from our Community partners about their organizations and the services they provide.
