Saint Ignatius High School

Visual Arts

Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, 3-D printing, photography, mixed media, apparel, film--our students do it all! Under the direction of incredibly creative teachers, the skills and ideas of our students emerge in brilliant and inspiring works of art.

Each year, Saint Ignatius students are recognized in the Scholastic Art & Writing awards competition for projects that span all media and formats. This year 16 students were recognized with 22 art awards, and three students received the highest honor: a Gold Key. Many students have work that advances to national judging and has been displayed in the Ohio State Capitol, as well as galleries in New York City.

Nathan Kuczmarski '22, a budding filmmaker, has produced several quality projects for the school newspaper ("The Eye") as well as a self-started student filmmaking club ("The Lens"). His portfolio of work also earned a Silver Key award from the 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. Nathan was profiled in Saint Ignatius Magazine in Fall 2021, and his C-SPAN Student Cam documentary was voted "fan favorite" in a nationwide contest.

Sean O'Neill '24 received statewide recognition for his drawing "Direction" in the 2022 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. Sean's piece was selected from over 6,000 submissions and featured on display at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus last April and May.
