Saint Ignatius High School

Traffic & Parking

With proper planning, patience and common sense, we can ensure that our students can arrive and depart school without safely and without issue each day, while ensuring our neighbors are not unnecessarily inconvenienced by the daily flow of traffic in and out of the Saint Ignatius High School Campus.
Saint Ignatius High School is located in the heart of the Ohio City neighborhood.  As with any urban neighborhood, security, parking and traffic congestion can be a challenge from time to time.  However, with proper planning, patience and common sense, we can ensure that our students can arrive and depart school without safely and without issue each day, while ensuring our neighbors are not unnecessarily inconvenienced by the daily flow of traffic in and out of the Saint Ignatius High School Campus.

Campus Security

Our campus security team is on duty from 5:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. All of our students will participate in a Campus Security Briefing within the first few days of school to familiarize or re-familiarize them with our safety protocols. You or your son should always feel free to contact Campus Security at 216.375.6509. This number is printed on your son’s Student ID card and as a best practice, we recommend that he keep it in his phone, listed as “AAA Campus Security” to keep it at the top of the list.

Drop Off and Pickup

For parents who are dropping off and picking up their sons from school, please review our campus map showing the two drop off locations (Breen Center and Visitor Parking lot) and suggested routes. Also, please note that there is NO DROP OFF OR PICKUP PERMITTED ON CARROLL AVENUE OR WEST 30TH STREET BETWEEN CARROLL AVENUE AND BRIDGE AVENUE.

Student Drivers

Please remind your son that he is expected to obey all traffic laws at all times. Most streets around our campus are 25 mph. Stop signs, traffic signals, crosswalks, must all be obeyed at all times. In addition to our students, there are many children who live in the neighborhood and who attend other schools in the neighborhood. Cleveland Police officers, including off duty officers we employ on our campus will enforce traffic laws around our campus.

Student Parking Lot - Seniors who have completed payment for a parking pass may pick up their pass in the Assistant Principal for Discipline/Student Life office during orientation.

Street Parking - With limited student parking spaces on our campus, many students park on the city streets near our campus. AS A REMINDER, THERE IS NO STUDENT PARKING ALLOWED ON CARROLL AVENUE BETWEEN FULTON AND WEST 30TH; ON WEST 30TH STREET BETWEEN CARROLL AVENUE AND BRIDGE AVENUE AND ON WEST 32ND BETWEEEN CARROLL AND PENN COURT. SIGNS ARE POSTED. Students parking on city streets should also be sure to avoid blocking driveways or encroaching on intersections. Vehicles will be towed if parked illegally.

You should also remind your son to be careful not to leave anything of possible value in sight in their cars (backpacks, duffle bags, phones, laptops, or even a few cents in the cup holder). Car windows will be broken periodically and it is typically because there was something that looked valuable inside. Common sense goes a long way to avoid these issues.

Finally, students are reminded that they should always travel in pairs or groups when walking to/from their cars, or walking throughout the surrounding neighborhood. If your son is ever in a situation where he is not comfortable walking to/from his car, he should not hesitate to contact Campus Security for an escort.

We will be providing all of these reminders to our students as we begin the school year.  Please take a few minutes to review with your son prior to the first day of school. Please contact Assistant Principal for Discipline Ryan Franzinger (rfranzinger@ignatius.edu) with questions.
