Founded in 1998, Science Olympiad brings like-minded students together for competitions related to all areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Housed in the third-floor classroom of the Clavius Science Building, the Science Olympiad team welcomes students of all four years who have an interest in applying their science skills and interests.
“Your team has to do each event, like a track meet,” says moderator Tom Bogen. “You need content guys, engineering guys, and so on.”
About 25-30 students from Saint Ignatius participate, sharing the load for about three events. Preparation begins in September for the state competition, which is held every spring.
In 2019, Saint Ignatius earned a sixth place finish at the state tournament.
