We've all heard the saying "actions speak louder than words," and it's true. Love should be shown through our actions rather than our words and emotions. Even toward our enemies and those who betray us, we should act as Jesus would by inviting them in and showing real acts love. If we don't, it is as if we are turning against God.

While the stories of the biblical saints are not meant to be taken literally, their symbolic meaning helps us to unlock the truth. For Saint Valentine, the linking of divine and human love remind us how to be a better friend, partner and person to others and God. Many artists and musicians highlight the mixed messages of love, but Saint Valentine shows us the importance about the depth of love and offering our full-selves to God.

Saint Ignatius alumni and current students will be pitching ideas to improve life in Cleveland at Accelerate: Citizens Make Change, a civic pitch competition on February 23, 2023 at the Huntington Convention Center.

After more than 8 years at his Alma Mater, Garen Distelhorst ’96 of the Advancement team has accepted a new position as the Director of Philanthropy and Engagement at Elyria Catholic High School. Distelhorst has served several roles in Advancement, most recently as Director of Alumni Relations and Planned Giving. Read his farewell message to the Saint Ignatius community.

In today's society, people are always looking for the easy way out, and pushing boundaries seems to be the latest challenge. Jesus reminds us of the Old Testament Laws and keeps the "You shall nots" alive, but He proposed that "to enter the Kingdom, we need to be even more righteous than those who follow the letter of the Law." We, as followers of Christ, do not need a loophole, but a path that goes above and beyond to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

This week, the Saint Ignatius Class of 2027 will receive their long-awaited acceptance letters. Tom Healey reflects on the day he received his acceptance in 1973, and encourages the incoming class to enjoy all of the eventful days and life-changing experiences ahead. Buckle up, class of 2027! It is going to be a wild and unforgettable ride.
