On Wednesday, September 11th, the Saint Ignatius community had the honor of welcoming 17 Jesuit priests and brothers from across the USA and Canada. They joined our students, faculty, and staff in praying the rosary before school in the Marian Mall, shared their vocation stories in theology classes, and celebrated a beautiful Mass together in the St. Mary of the Assumption Chapel.
The suggestion to visit Saint Ignatius was inspired by Fr. Paul J. Shelton, S.J., who taught theology and languages, as well as coached the cross country team at the school from 2015 - 20. Fr. Shelton is currently the vocation director for the Midwest Jesuits and the chair of all the vocation directors in the USA and Canada. When it was time to pick a location for their annual meeting, he chose Cleveland so that he and his colleagues in the vocation ministry could experience the vitality of the mission at Saint Ignatius. While in town they also visited Gesu Church, John Carroll University and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
