The National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) has recognized the Saint Ignatius High School Speech and Debate Team for earning a spot in the association's prestigious 100 Club for the 2020-2021 school year.

Throughout the course of each school year, students in the speech and debate program are able to earn points and degrees based on competitive and service-related activities. The 57 students who made up Saint Ignatius High School’s Speech and Debate Team achieved 105 points, which qualified them for the 100 Club.

According to the National Speech and Debate Association, the milestone is noteworthy because it demonstrates outstanding commitment to teaching students essential life skills, including communication, research, listening, writing, and organization.

Led by Fine Arts teacher Joe Buzzelli and English teacher Kim Gross, they seek to promote speech, debate and robust communication through competition. Saint Ignatius High School has attended 44 national tournaments since the school’s program was established and is frequently the leading chapter of the North Coast District of the NSDA.
