It has been five years since legendary Theology teacher and co-founder of the Christian Action Team Jim Skerl '74 entered into his eternal reward. On October 23, Saint Ignatius High School will celebrate his life and legacy.

The day will begin with Community Mass at 7:20 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Chapel on campus. Fr. Paul Shelton, S.J. will preside and Mr. Dan Galla, an ordained deacon, will offer the homily.

Furthermore, everyone is invited to visit the Marian Mall, dedicated in May 2017 in memory of Jim and longtime Theology teacher Michael "Doc" Pennock, to pray the Prayer of Abandonment by Blessed Charles de Foucauld. This can be done on your own time throughout the day. The Loyola Society will be decorating the grotto with flowers.

Recognizing that today's Saint Ignatius students did not ever meet Jim or have him as a teacher, we are also inviting everyone who knew him to share their response to this question: Who was Jim Skerl to you? Please use the form below. Responses will be shared with the greater Saint Ignatius community.
