Director of Admissions, Pat O'Rourke '90 and self-proclaimed "word nerd" brings you his Etymology Word of the Week. Every other week, he presents an online Etymology lesson just for fun!
Mundane - "Common, ordinary, banal, unimaginative; worldly, earthly; of this world (as opposed to of Heaven).”  From the Latin adjective mundanus meaning “belonging to the world, secular” by way of the Latin noun mundus, mundi meaning “world, universe.”  (All information is from www.wikipedia.org, www.etymonline.com and/or www.dictionary.com).
