The Dedication of Kyle and McLaughlin Fields

On Monday, October 23, Fr. Guiao, S.J. '82 officially blessed and dedicated Kyle and McLaughlin fields surrounded by coaches, student-athletes, benefactors and community members.
Kyle and McLaughlin fields were officially blessed and dedicated on Monday, October 23. Thanks to a generous lead gift from Rita and Peter Carfagna '71 and contributions from many others, renovations began on May 1, and the fields are now being used by teams, our marching band and community members.

President of Saint Ignatius High School, Rev. Raymond P. Guiao, S.J. '82 blessed the fields with holy water and prayed with benefactors, coaches, student-athletes, family, friends and community members in attendance.

Named for coaches Chuck Kyle '69 and Mike McLaughlin '85, these fields honor the excellence their teams have achieved, but more than that, they honor the examples they have set for our young men in the classroom, on the field and in our community.

"Their end game is not winning," says Athletic Director Rory Fitzpatrick '88. "Their end game is about building Men for Others."
While during the dedication, the wind was blowing and raindrops were falling, the very next day the skies cleared and a double rainbow appeared over our soccer team as they practiced on McLaughlin Field.

We look forward to this space being a safe place that connects our community where our students can continue to grow. Thank you to everyone who supported this project as part of our Campus South Athletic Complex.
