Latin Teachers Attend Jesuit Latin Colloquium

Joe Zebrak '87 and Aaron Graora '08 attended the 7th biennial Jesuit Latin Colloquium at the University of Detroit.
Language Department Chair and Latin teacher Joe Zebrak '87 and Latin teacher Aaron Graora, participated in the 7th biennial Jesuit Latin Colloquium held at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School. According to Zebrak, It was a very enriching experience because they had the opportunity to learn with and from Jesuit high school Latin teachers from across the country. A professor from the University of Michigan talked about his involvement with the lost scrolls of Pompei and how they were being slowly unwrapped to reveal never before passages of ancient Roman authors. In addition, they heard presentations on pedagogical approaches of several Latin teachers as well as an explanation of the new syllabus for the AP Latin Literature exam. It was a very rewarding opportunity, and Zebrak and Graora were able to bring back a lot of information for their Latin colleagues at Saint Ignatius.
