A Note from School Counseling

During this time of uncertainty, focusing on what we can control helps us keep things in perspective. To that end, here are a few things you can do to support yourself.

During this time of uncertainty, focusing on what we can control helps us keep things in perspective. To that end, here are a few things you can do to support yourself:

  • Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
  • Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep.
  • Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy, exercise, get outside.
  • Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.

If you are not sure who your school counselor is, please contact Elizabeth Emerick at eemerick@ignatius.edu.

If you are feeling very overwhelmed or anxious please reach out to a parent or trusted adult.

As far as academics go, please communicate with your teacher(s) if you have questions about specific classes. There are some similarities in the school's virtual learning protocol, however each teacher may have different platforms, so one should contact the teacher first if questions arise. As a reminder, everyone is learning a new way to manage time and academics, so your patience is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your attention to creating your course requests for the 2020-21 school year. At this time the scheduling process will be put on hold. We will be in touch when a plan is in place. Please don’t worry about this, we have time to address this in the future.

We will be posting information on the School Counselors twitter page: @SIHSCounseling
