A Welsh Academy Evening of Celebrations

On Wednesday, June 1, The Welsh Academy hosted the 2022 Family Welcome Night and Blue Blazer Ceremony. On Wednesday, June 1, The Welsh Academy hosted the 2022 Family Welcome Night and Blue Blazer Ceremony.

Through this event, we welcomed our newest Wildcats to our community while also celebrating the ten Saint Ignatius bound alumni with their first Blue Blazers, signifying the official start of their journey as Saint Ignatius students. This tradition in the making is one in which the bridge between the middle school and academy is visible, demonstrating the shared mission of the two schools.

The Family Welcome Night portion of the evening was a celebration of our 25 incoming sixth graders, complete with smiles, warm handshakes, t-shirts, music, cheers, conversations, plenty of food, and the Wildcat mascot himself!

Throughout the spring, the Admissions Decision Committee worked diligently to determine the 27 students who could be best supported by The Welsh Academy. This year, more students than ever requested admission into the Academy. The goal of enrolling 25 students into the Class of 2025 was achieved, and two additional students were invited to join the Class of 2024.

These 27 new students:

  • Hail from 21 different schools

    • 9 different public schools

    • 5 different public charter schools

    • 6 different Catholic schools

    • 1 faith-based school

  • Live in six different cities

    • 22: Cleveland

    • 1: Cleveland Heights

    • 1: Garfield Heights

    • 1: Lakewood

    • 1: Parma

    • 1: Warrensville Heights

We are grateful to welcome these young men into our community. You are in for a wonderful journey together!
