Saint Ignatius alumni and current students will be pitching ideas to improve life in Cleveland at Accelerate: Citizens Make Change, a civic pitch competition on February 23, 2023 at the Huntington Convention Center.

Mr. Dan Hess ’88, History teacher and Director of the Saint Ignatius Entrepreneur Academy, will be featured in the Technovation category for his idea to create dynamic learning environments by bringing the style, humor, and communication skills of effective, seasoned teachers to schools across the U.S. through video with Teacher Engage Connect.

Saint Ignatius alumnus Sam Smucny ’17 will be featured in the Quality of Life category pitching The CLE: An Online Public Square, an all-inclusive Cleveland-centric social media and news aggregator platform.

Hess' and Smucny's ideas were two of 32 selected for this contest, which is presented by Cleveland Leadership Center and Citizens.

Additionally, three current Saint Ignatius students, Seth Wojar ’23, Young Kim ’23 and Colin Schnitter ’23, will present in the Teen Accelerate competition. These seniors will pitch Occasio Jobs, a job board built specifically for high schoolers in the Northeast Ohio area.

The Saint Ignatius community is invited to attend the event and in support of our alumni, current students, and all the other visionaries who want to improve our community. Details and registration link are at www.cleveleads.org/Accelerate.
