Week in Review: April 20 - 24, 2020

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine extends distance learning through the end of the school year. Chariot Races took place although they looked very different. Signs of support for our Class of 2020 seniors began to reach far and wide.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced on Monday, April 20, that schools will continue distance learning and therefore our Virtual Learning Protocol will continue through the end of the school year.

With our campus remaining closed for the rest of the school year and the continued uncertainty of social distancing regulations for the near future, we have made plans for alternatives to the original end-of-year events for our seniors. Following Governor Mike DeWine's announcement, schools across Ohio turned on the lights in their stadiums in a sign of solidarity with the Class of 2020. Unfortunately, we couldn't host the Chariot Races on campus as usual. But that didn't mean we couldn't still have fun during Langauges Week! In honor of Latin Day during Languages Week, students were invited to build and race their own chariots around their neighborhoods today with a family member among other challenges. Thanks to Latin teacher Brian Dybicz '99, the Jesuits, and Tommy Rochester '19, a smaller but equally fascinating version of the chariot races continued...

The Virtual Languages Week provided much-needed fun an lightheartedness to the week flooding our social media channels with photos of homemade cuisine by our students and even included a Mass in many languages celebrated by Fr. Paul Shelton, S.J. VIEW PHOTOS

Just a day after the spring sports season was canceled, Brian Hoyer '04, Derek Dietrich '07, Luke Farrell '09, and Nick Margevicius '14 consoled the Baseball Cats on Zoom.

"Remember the friendships you've made. Appreciate what you have, because it's special. When I look back at my time at Saint Ignatius, it’s the friendships I remember, not the games."
