Saint Ignatius High School

Campus South Athletic Complex

Because of the growing need for additional, adequate practice space the Campus South Athletic Complex called for the turfing of Kyle and McLaughlin fields and the construction of a field house.

The Campus South Athletic Complex includes athletic practice fields south of Lorain Avenue and the construction of an indoor practice facility. Kyle and McLaughlin fields, honor our legendary football and soccer coaches. Due to a growing need for additional and adequate practice space renovations included artificial turf with lines for multiple sports. Prior to renovations, much of the time the field was unusable as the natural grass surface did not hold up in Cleveland weather. One practice session on a soggy field killed grass and created holes, causing uneven, muddy and unsafe conditions. The Carfagna Family Magis Athletic Center is an indoor practice and training facility that serves all 1,500 of our current students, members of our community, and future students for generations to come.

  • The Carfagna Family Magis Athletic Center

The MAC is a part of the Campus South Athletic Project including Kyle and McLaughlin fields. This multi-sport field house and locker room was constructed to better house practices and equipment. It was officially dedicated on June 2, 2019.

  • Kyle and McLaughlin Fields

Construction on the field began May 1, 2017 and the fields were officially dedicated on Monday, October 23, 2017. The renovations include three acres of synthetic turf field with the creation of two synthetic turf practice fields lined for football, rugby, soccer and lacrosse – separated by safety netting or used as one large field. The fields are open for community use, similar to Wasmer Field.

  • Athletic Archways

To recognize the athletic excellence achieved by our state championship teams and two legendary coaches, each field is designated in honor of the outstanding work that has been done throughout the years. The entrances to the field are named Kyle Field in honor of English teacher, Head Football and Track & Field Coach Chuck Kyle ‘69 and McLaughlin Field in honor of Theology Department Chair and Head Soccer Coach Mike McLaughlin ‘85. Each archway includes their name and a plaque is placed near the archways to honor our state championship teams and their support of the project.
