Hear From Our Alumni

Jim Beebe '93

Jim believes the Ignatian values he learned as a student remain important today: commit to justice, give generously, and remember that God always welcomes you back.

Joe Denk '07

Whether it’s in the gym or in life, Joe wants students to know that growth happens through challenge. “Put your best foot forward. Show up, do the work, and be proud of your effort. That’s how you become the man you’re meant to be.”

Paul Roetzer '96

Paul’s advice to current students: “Try something new. If it doesn’t work out, that’s fine, you learned something. Connect the dots, work hard, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. That’s what the Ignatius network is for.”

Jonathan Clemente '99

As a student at Saint Ignatius and throughout college, Jonathan struggled with mental health and substance abuse, causing challenges in his personal and professional life. After seeking support through counselors, friends, family, and Hopewell, a residential treatment program for adults with severe mental illnesses, Jonathan is now 15 years sober. He has a new approach on life in supporting others with similar issues.

Mike Molina '06

Mike’s path to becoming a professional writer started at Saint Ignatius. A film class with Mr. Fujimoto (Cinematic Literature) introduced him to the world of storytelling, and he quickly found his voice through speech and debate, theater, and improv.

Patrick Evans '04

“There’s a stereotype or expectation that comes with going to Ignatius, but at its core, Ignatius is teaching you how to be a compassionate, caring, intelligent Man for Others. Use those Grad at Grad values and skills to pursue what truly excites you. And remember, it’s okay to take the unconventional route.”

Troy Milkie '13

Troy recalls that he tried being the typical Ignatius student, but soon realized that “it’s about being you”. As a student, Troy didn’t consider a career in fashion a real possibility. He credits his exposure to the realness of Ohio City for giving him a holistic view of the real world.

Metin Eren '01

Metin credits his time at Ignatius as to why archaelogy became interesting to him. Fr. Ober's World History class intrigued him and made him ponder what walked the Earth before us. He is currently a professor of Archaelogy at Kent State University.

Chris Bohan '90

“Sophomore Service greatly impacted my life. As a transfer student from Connecticut, Sophomore Service was one of my first experiences as a student and a memorable one. It showed me the sense of community and connection Saint Ignatius has with the Ohio City neighborhood.

Matt Salata '04

Matt credits “the people” he met to why he had such an enjoyable experience at Saint Ignatius. He is still close with his friends, classmates, and teachers even now being 1,750 miles away and 20 years since his time spent at W. 30th & Lorain. When asked what do you think makes Saint Ignatius great, he responded “It comes down to the relationships and the people who have become family.
