One of the first things you will learn at Saint Ignatius High School is the words to our alma mater. It’s a song that’s almost as old as the school. While the melody is easy to learn, the words are what really touch the hearts of students and alumni alike. And maybe that’s because the lyrics speak of some of the deepest truths of what being an Ignatius man is all about: “unforgotten faces,” “the faith that she imparts,” and unsevered “ties of new days from the old.”
These are words to a song that will mean more and more to you through the years, maybe especially after you graduate from “our famed Alma Mater." When that time comes, your high school years at Saint Ignatius will be fond memories. But right now, it’s all ahead of you. And there’s so much excitement and hope imagining what your years at Saint Ignatius will be like.
Congratulations, Wildcat! It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Saint Ignatius High School. You join the ranks of generations of men, young and old, who proudly sing that we are “Ignatius men forever.”
I can’t wait to see you on campus!
Your fellow Ignatius man,
Fr. Raymond P. Guiao, SJ, ‘82
