Language Testing and Placement

The Languages Department of Saint Ignatius High School invites the incoming freshmen who, in elementary school, have had significant exposure to Latin, French, or Spanish, to take a placement test.

The Languages Department of Saint Ignatius High School invites the incoming freshmen who, in elementary school, have had significant exposure to Latin, French, or Spanish, to take a placement test. The purpose of this test is to determine the student’s level of proficiency so that we may be able to correctly place him in the appropriate language level. You may sit for the exam on either of the testing dates. If your son is unable to sit for the exam on one of the days listed below due to a conflict, please contact the Language Department.

Test Administration

Spanish: Room 313 (main building)

French: Room 316 (main building)

Latin: Room 312 (main building)

The French and Spanish test will have three components: oral, listening and written.  The Latin test will be a written exam.  Please allow approximately one hour for the entire test.
