Our Mission Is Essential

COVID-19 has presented a tremendous challenge for Saint Ignatius High School to balance our mission of providing an academically rigorous, Catholic, Jesuit education along with the health and safety recommendations of leading healthcare experts. Due to a rise in the number of positive cases, we are pivoting to virtual learning beginning Monday, November 16.

Saint Ignatius High School

Spirituality Program for Adults

Parents, alumni, employees, neighbors and friends can participate in retreats, prayer services and spiritual direction offered by our Spirituality Program for Adults. Regular events are open to all throughout the year.

"Give yourself the gift of this time. Open the door just a bit and trust that God will do the rest. Watch how He moves in your life. That is my prayer for us all; to simply let God in and let God be God."

The Spirituality Program for Adults is the umbrella organization for all Ignatian spirituality offerings and opportunities for adults in the Saint Ignatius High School community. The S.P.A. offices are located in the basement of St. Mary’s Chapel and include a library with wonderful spiritual books for your consideration.

Come and See: A Six Week Experience of Ignatian Prayer and Community is brand new in 2020, tailor-made for this period of our lives. It is not an existing retreat retrofitted for the Zoom platform but structured intentionally to facilitate meaningful prayer, reflection and small group experiences. Through structured prayer and weekly group conversations over Zoom, participants will learn about Ignatian spirituality and grow closer to God. (Register HERE)

An Introduction to Ignatian Spirituality is the core Ignatian S.P.A. program offered four times during the school year. Each retreat session is eight weeks long and includes Eucharist, faith shared in community, and prayerful reflections for home. It is a wonderful introductory experience for establishing or renewing one’s personal prayer life. **Note: This retreat is on hiatus for Fall 2020.

During the fall, Saint Ignatius is pleased to offer a five-week, pray-at-home retreat for men. With witness talks, short lessons and faith-sharing, participants of this Men's Ignatian Retreat grow in their faith, learn new forms of prayer and receive the gifts of Ignatian spirituality.

An annual Alumni Retreat for alumni of Saint Ignatius is held annually in February. This two-day, one-night retreat at the Jesuit Retreat House in Parma pulls in many of the themes from the popular Kairos retreat and is open to alumni from all class years.

Faculty and staff at Saint Ignatius are required to participate in a five-year Employee Faith Formation program. With semi-weekly meetings, new employees go through each year of formation with the members of their own cohort--those who were hired the same year as them. It also includes separate sessions for first-year faculty to help accommodate their adjustment to policies, procedures and culture of the school.

For those ready and able to pray the full Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in Everyday Life, S.P.A. offers this retreat (in the 19th Annotation format) over 32 weeks. Saint Ignatius also provides opportunity for Individual Spiritual Direction with one of many trained spiritual directors. (Sign up HERE)

Saint Ignatius is committed to supporting lay leadership formation opportunities and works collaboratively with the Jesuit Retreat House and other Ignatian ministries to support various prayer and formation projects.

As people deepen their relationship with Christ contemplatively, action follows. Various service opportunities are available to the Saint Ignatius adult community.
