The Center for Ignatian Pedagogy (CIP) at Saint Ignatius recently published its first academic journal, Ignatian Pedagogy in Practice: A Forum for Educators in Jesuit Schools. The first issue of this annual publication addresses the question: Reimaging Rigor: Elevating Learning in the 21st-century. The publication features researched pieces from Jesuit educators from across the country. You can read the full issue here.
A Call for Papers has been issued for the Fall 2025 issue of the publication: Unique Approaches to Feedback in Ignatian Pedagogy. Submissions are due April 21, 2025. Click here for more information.
The CIP, launched in the Fall of 2022, is an institutional action research center and learning lab that studies the cognitive, affective and behavioral growth and wellness of adolescent boys and inspires deeper teaching and learning through action-based research.
According to Dr. Terra Caputo, Director of the CIP, “When we first began to dream about building our own educational research center, we knew that a project like this had the potential to transform teaching and learning. What we couldn’t have imagined was just how revolutionary and inspiring the work would become when we empowered students and faculty to collaborate as partners.”
The CIP is hosting the first annual high school research symposium on March 15, 2025, at Saint Ignatius High School. For more information on the symposium click here.
According to Saint Ignatius Principal Dr. Anthony Fior ’02, "As one of the four pillars of our academic strategic initiatives, the CIP and Dr. Caputo's work communicates our enduring commitment to providing an excellent education for our students and cutting-edge professional learning for our teachers. The CIP enables us to explore and deepen our school's understanding of the 500-year-old tradition of Jesuit education and the most relevant research on teaching and learning."
