Theology is both an academic discipline and a spiritual enterprise. Through the study of theology, students are invited to a deep, vibrant, and lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ and with His Church. The Theology Department is both contemporary and appropriate in presenting and promoting the teachings, traditions and sacramental life of the Catholic Church. The unique element of service with a Catholic perspective is one of the greatest values offered through the Saint Ignatius Theology department. As a Jesuit school, Saint Ignatius alerts students to heed the cries of the poor, the helpless, and the oppressed; prepares students to be respectful of others and of opposing views; and prepares students for subsequent leadership in building the Kingdom of God. Following the motto of the Jesuits, "To the greater glory of God," the Theology department strives to form men of faith for the Church and the world.
