LIBRARY INFORMATION AND POLICIES
The Harold C. Schott Library at St. Ignatius High School functions as an integral part of the total school program serving the students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Our primary goal is to form a student who is information literate, an independent learner, and one who contributes positively to the learning community and society in the service of Jesus Christ.
LIBRARY HOURS
The library is open from 7:15 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on school days.

BORROWING PROCEDURES
- In order to borrow materials from the library, you must present your student I.D. number at the desk along with the materials you wish to check out.

Circulating materials may be borrowed from the library for a period of 10 school days for books and periodicals and three days for cameras, video cameras, music CDs, DVDs, and videos. Reference books and items placed on reserve are overnight only.

Renewals are permitted provided an item is not in demand.
- Anything charged to your I.D. is your responsibility. Do not check out materials for another student.
OVERDUE NOTICES
Reminders to return books are sent to your homeroom. Please settle these matters as soon as possible.
BOOKS
There are more than 14,000 books in the library. Information regarding these books can be found in the on-line catalog by subject, author or title.
PERIODICALS
The library subscribes to more than 100 periodicals. To find online periodicals try the Periodicals Link or ask the staff for instructions for home access.
VIDEO COLLECTION
Over 700 DVD and VHS videos are available, covering all subject areas.
COMPUTER RESOURCES
- 43 networked multimedia PC workstations
- 3 ready reference computer reference stations
- Wireless laptop cart (13 laptops)
- Online databases with both school and remote at-home access
STUDENT COMPUTER POLICIES
- Each student and parent have agreed to the Acceptable Use of Computers Policy at Saint Ignatius as stated in the student handbook.
- Students must present their ID to receive a computer assignment.
- Each student is assigned their own network login and password.
- The state-of-the-art technology resources are available to encourage your intellectual curiosity and growth. While technology can open up a world of educational and recreational pursuits, the technology resources at the library are intended to be used for educational purposes. In order to serve the entire student body, we reserve the right to limit access at our discretion.
