Saint Ignatius English Department Mission Statement
The Saint Ignatius English Department subscribes to the philosophy and goals of St. Ignatius High School in attempting to encourage, in a college preparatory curriculum and environment, the fullest possible development of each student.
We are dedicated to a curriculum where students will:

Read, think, and write analytically and effectively

Demonstrate competency in writing and in the conventions of written English

Understand and appreciate the context, theme, and style of literature

Learn writing as a process

Take ownership of learning
We, as members of the English Department, will continue to:

Offer an enriching and challenging curriculum

Remediate non-proficient students

Provide a Writing Lab staffed by department members to assist students in the writing process

Respond professionally to parent and teacher concerns about students
Offer Advanced Placement English
