Admissions

Saint Ignatius High School, a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition, desires to create a community of learning that prepares young men for a life of service to God. We welcome students from diverse economic, ethnic, geographic and religious backgrounds who have demonstrated a commitment to grow intellectually and spiritually.

We are seeking young men who have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Students who are best suited for our curriculum typically earn A-B grades, demonstrate good conduct and effort in junior high and score in the top 30 percent of students in the country on standardized testing. Preference will be given to students who attend Catholic schools and those who are active members of a Catholic parish, but consideration will be given to any young man who has a sincere desire to develop a more meaningful relationship with God.

Guided by St. Ignatius Loyola's vision "to find God in all things," we strive to create an educational environment in which the entire community will learn about, from, and with one another. In this setting, a student will begin to recognize and appreciate his unique talents and abilities and those of others. They will also realize how their mutual growth serves to build God's kingdom following the example of the model Man for Others, Jesus Christ.

Our community is open to students who do not have a family legacy at Saint Ignatius, but tradition is an important element of our school and consideration is given to applicants who have had a father or brother attend Saint Ignatius.

Historically, Saint Ignatius High School receives more applications from qualified candidates than there are positions in the class. Where specific standards are given or references are made to "preference" or "consideration" in this philosophy statement, no guarantee of admission is implied. Our guarantee is that decisions will be made only after prayerful and thoughtful consideration has been given to each applicant and his qualifications.

Saint Ignatius High School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights and privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to all students at our school.  We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of their educational and admissions policies, scholarships, athletic, and loan programs and other school -administered programs.
