THE WILDCATS' WINTER SPORTS PREVIEWS CONTINUE, AS COACH JOHN KASTANIS GIVES US A PROSPECTUS ON HIS 2010-11 SAINT IGNATIUS BOWLING TEAM.
POSTED ON 11/26/10.
"St. Ignatius last year bowled in the Cuyahoga/Geauga/ Lake County Conference. The conference held it first tournament, with our sophomore, Ray Schaefer, the individual high score champion of the tournament by shooting a 643 series and the team finishing second place.
"We later discovered that the team winning was disqualified for having an ineligible member. We were never recognized as the championship team for that tournament.
"I have a great outlook as a team to be very competitive and a possibility goal to move to District if not State finals this year.”
Coach Kastanis' outlook is fueled by Schaefer, now a junior, and senior Chris Thom, who each finished with 200-plus averages last year and have the potential of 220-plus this year. Kastanis added that three other members on the team – junior Chris Dokler, junior Matt Eaton and sophomore Andy Maykut – each have the potential of 185-plus.
"We are looking forward to bringing our talents into a new conference this year, where we know the competition is very high end, and looking forward to bringing our best efforts to compete.”
Thank you,
John Kastanis
