College Counseling

Our College Counselors work with seniors and second semester juniors preparing them for their college careers. They guide students through the college selection and application process helping them to understand, compile, create, and review the necessary tools available to them. Students and counselors meet regularly, both individually and in small groups. Applying to college is a process set in motion when a student begins assessing the credentials that he will present to prospective colleges.

Counselors also work closely with the parents/families of the students to help them through the college admission process.

Saint Ignatius High School utilizes the Naviance system which is a college research tool available to all Saint Ignatius students and parents.  Users may search colleges by majors and locations, view scattergrams of past alumni results, and track applications that are turned into the college counseling office.  The counseling department also hosts representatives from many colleges and universities across the country.

Ninety nine percent of our graduating classes attend college, Saint Ignatius students are encouraged to select a college where they will be academically challenged, comfortable and successful.

My Online Score Report- an enhanced score report that allows students to review each test question, the student’s answer, and the correct answer with answer explanations.

My SAT Study Plan- a customized SAT study plan based on student PSAT/NMSQT test performance, highlighting skills for review and practice.

My Personality- a detailed personality test that helps students better understand their own strengths and interests.

My College Matches- A starter list of colleges based on the student’s state and indicated choice of major.

My Major and Career Matches- Major and career matches that are compatible with the student’s general interests and personality type.

My AP Potential- a report that shows students which AP® courses they may be ready for and which match the college majors that interest them.

Access is available using the access code printed on the student’s paper score report, and the tool can be utilized throughout high school.
