Academics

Science Department

The Saint Ignatius Science Department teaches a curriculum that, first and foremost, combines scientific studies with values to ensure every student has the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus Christ.  We offer a thorough and comprehensive course of study necessary to compete and excel in an increasingly technological world.

In our mission of science education, we strive to form each student into a scientifically inquisitive, life-long learner dedicated to understanding and improving the world and ethically committed to supporting a just society.

Highlights include:

  • The Science Olympiad team has been Regional Champions for five consecutive years.  They have finished in the top ten in the State Tournament four times.  The Science Olympiad is an academic competition consisting of 23 events covering a wide array of areas in science and engineering.
  • Students rise and shine early to participate in the “Super Bio” class.  This voluntary class prepares stand-out students for the SAT II Subject Test in biology.

Additionally, we offer opportunities for internships and summer camps at the following institutions:

Great Lakes Science Center

Hiram Genomics Academy

Cleveland Clinic Internships

Ohio Summer Science Camps

NASA summer internships
